How to do Small Business Marketing with Online Flyer Printing

Monday, October 31st, 2011

When you’re a small business starting out one of the most economical ways to get people to notice your store is to produce a flyer and distribute it in the neighborhood nearby. Sure this may sound a bit old-fashioned but one of the reasons why you still get flyers in your mailbox, is because they work. Certain flyers will work better than others of course, but that’s usually just dependent on how well designed they are. Here are some tips for designing and distributing effective marketing flyers for your small business.

Color your world. It almost goes without saying, but color flyers are the way to go because without color, your flyer will easily get lost in other promotional material and if seen at all, might be considered “cheap” looking to your potential customers and give the wrong kind of first impression. In this digital age, there’s a lot of visual noise to compete with so you want to look professional, vibrant, and use your company’s logo and branding to be present a professional image.

The flyer should stick to one main special offer. Keep things simple with your offer and use little, if any paragraph structure at all. You don’t want people to have to read your flyer for too long to figure out what it’s all about. remember they will probably be ruffling through other material at the same time.

Present a call to action in the flyer. Don’t be shy about this. Tell your potential customer to come into your store, or phone the store to take advantage of the offer. If you’re doing online flyer printing, then be sure to check that the flyer is telling the reader what to do. Your major objective here is presenting your potential client with a yes or no answer. Ambiguity is a killer of conversions, so you want to choose language that negates that as much as possible.

Do not use an image or photo at the top of the flyer. The top 20% to 25% of your flyer should be a bold headline that leads into information about your offer. For example, a local dog grooming business might put out a flyer with the headline “Bring your dog in this Saturday for our outdoor dog shampoo charity party”. Then you can divide the lower two thirds of the flyer into pictures that would probably include a dog getting a shampoo, a picture of your storefront (and perhaps one of the owners), and then some details about when the event is taking place and what charity to raising money for. You should also have a footer at the bottom of the flyer with address and phone number details.

Always try and use your logo in printed material. This can be in one of the corners, overlaid on top of one of the pictures, or integrated into one of the border areas that includes highlighted information. Also try and choose complementary colors of your logo and/or store front and theme. If you have a website you should also consider that theme as well and provide a link in the flyer.

Fortunately, PGprint.com offers online flyer printing so that when you do decide to do a promotion, you will have full color flyers delivered to your door as soon as the next day and for much less than a local printing company.

Using Greeting Cards at Work to Build Employee Morale

Monday, October 31st, 2011

I know you may be thinking greeting cards are kind of outdated in today’s business world. I mean when was the last time that you actually saw a greeting card at work? Maybe the odd birthday party or so, but greeting cards are almost exclusively used for your home life with family and relatives.

As a manager or supervisor, you might want to reconsider using greeting cards in your workplace for the very reason that people just won’t expect it. They won’t be expecting it because first of all we live in an electronic world flooded with e-mails and social media banter. Secondly, let’s face it, it’s been a rough few years economically for everybody. So going out of your way to actually sitting down and sending somebody a complimentary message using a greeting card will not only set you a part from other managers and other companies, it will actually by-pass the noisy digital media that your staff is faced with day in and day out.

People don’t remember e-mails anymore. Once read, they’re generally trashed because that’s the way e-mail works, and that’s simply the way people have to manage digital clutter. But if you walk by people’s offices, check their cork boards or to-do lists, even on their fridges at home, you’re bound to find a greeting card there of some sort. It’s been psychologically proven that employees become significantly more motivated when they’re working on projects they love, and for people that respect them and inspire them. Think about how far a simple greeting card would go in making one of your employees feel more important. You could actually start this as one of regular practices because being known for handing out such greeting cards – even with the shortest of notes inside, will go a long way to you being a more respected and admired manager as well.

Here is some even better news. At PGprint.com we can actually make this really easy for you because we have bulk pricing on quantities as low as 50 color printed greeting cards that you can actually design yourself, using our online software. You can choose from a wide variety of paper choices and greeting card sizes, and then choose from standard graphics, photos or logos and images that you upload from your desktop. And don’t worry because our online software makes this as easy as sending an e-mail. However, if you do have any challenges at all, our staff is available online to help you with your order.

Now you can order greeting cards from PGprint for certain holidays or occasions, or use some great photos collected around your workplace perhaps and create a thank you greeting card to send notes of appreciation to selected employees. Not only do we guarantee our product and prices on all of our printing, but we can also guarantee that your staff will really appreciate the extra time and effort you spent on doing this very simple, but effective gesture. So effective are greeting cards in the office, that we have found a lot of people will actually take them home and show their spouses. Talk about good will for small change.

We’ve been in business for 30 years now and would love to have you stop by our website at PGprint.com for your next greeting card order.

How Our Brochure Printing Services Can Help Your Business

Friday, October 28th, 2011

If you have a small business, you probably have been trying to think of ways to expand and have more people know about your company. Small businesses are often very hard to promote because you have yet to build your company’s name up yet and this is often the tough task that many entrepreneurs have overcome. Though many people will seek the internet or media to market, it seems like business owners have overlooked the benefits of a simple brochure.

Why Brochure Printing?

Though it might be sad that many business owners ignore the benefits of brochure printing, this is actually where you will be able to gain an edge on your competitors. Most business owners see it as too much effort and they feel like it won’t bring amazing results. The fact that it is too much effort has definitely made us want to provide small business owners the chance to create beautiful brochures without having to go through the hassles of actually creating them. We will be able to design and customize a brochure that will look very professional. These brochures will be created with your customers in mind and you will not find another company that will provide quick service with amazing results.

Will Brochure Printing Bring Results?

This might be the main question that many business owners will want to know. The truth is, brochures will represent your company and if it is done professionally, you will realize that your company will start to grow. Unlike business cards, brochure printing will be able to give your potential customers all the details that they need without having to contact anyone. This is very convenient for the customer and at the same time a very good way to help spread what your company has to offer.

Ideas For Brochure Printing

Though it might seem like commonsense to have the basic services on the brochure, you might also want to add several features that other businesses never really implement. If you have something to offer, let’s say free airplane tickets or a free services for your company, you could create a sort of contest or raffle on your brochure. You will be able to add several online links and if your company has a Facebook page, you direct them to your page in order for them to participate in your contest. This is a great way to grab a person’s attention and at the same time they will inevitably have to look through the rest of the brochure in order to read about the contest. This will then be able to also boost your social media marketing plans and your business will ultimately begin to grow.

A serious business owner will know that you must invest in your company for it to properly grow. Though it is a fact that you must spend, it does not necessarily mean that you have to pay thousands of dollars. We provide the fastest and most efficient brochure printing services and it is not a surprise that we are one of the most trusted in the commercial printing industry.

If you are just starting out, trying to build your company from the ground up, you may be looking for ways to grow. One of the best approaches is to invest money in advertising, yet your burgeoning business may not be able to support a large expenditure in this area. Business cards are inexpensive, yet effective tools when used correctly. Where can you take your card printing business to ensure the best result?

No matter how good your business plan or how savvy your approach, a poorly printed business card can create a unfavorable impression that will be tough to overcome. Don’t put yourself at a deficit – choose a high quality card printing service which will make your business shine. Who can accomplish this, yet keep your budget intact? Pick a high rise and begin greeting business people as they exit the building on their way out for lunch. While you may be reluctant to do so at first, you will soon realize the power of this approach. You will be able to present your business or service to literally hundreds of people in a single hour. All it takes is one good lead or contact to make your time worthwhile. Also, not only will you have the power of numbers on your side, you will also be talking to only high quality prospects. So, don’t delay the growth of your business any longer. Collaborate with PGprint for an unrivaled business card printing experience, and use your new tools in ways the competition won’t think of to get ahead!

Things to Remember When Designing a Flyer for Printing

Wednesday, October 26th, 2011

Flyer printing and distribution are among the easiest and most cost-effective methods for companies to market their products and services. For many businesses, flyer or brochure printing can provide the opportunity to give potential clients information about their products and services, particularly during events or in busy locations.

A professionally printed brochure or flyer can lend credibility to a business, save time, and support a company’s other marketing initiatives.

Before sending off the flyers to the printer, make sure that the designs themselves are properly prepared to minimize printing time and production costs. Here are a few things to keep in mind when preparing flyers or brochures for printing:

Know the target market and the purpose of the flyer. Who are the people targeted by the company, and what message is the company trying to convey? General information of a topic has a different approach from one that proposes a solution to a problem. Understanding the audience, and the purpose for the brochure can help designers prepare the appropriate information to help readers better understand the company’s products and services.

Know the limitations of flyer printing. Get a template from the brochure printing company and follow it. The dimensions, folds and trimming capabilities of the printer determine the foundation of the information sheet. Everything else, such as font size, color schemes and the like can follow.

Less is more. A flyer with small, barely readable text and filled to the brim with information will not make clients want to pick it up. Keep the design and text simple and engaging.

Follow the template of the printer. Placing elements past the bleed lines may undermine the overall look of the flyer and brochure. This can result in design problems such as missing text or misplaced graphics and visual elements.

Once everything is print-ready, it is time to send the flyer for printing.

Brochure Printing – Factors to Consider

Tuesday, October 25th, 2011

Brochures are the show windows for the subject matter that needs to be communicated to potential customers. Therefore they also need “window dressing” and like any shop, especially those dealing in home needs or fashion accessories, needs to speak or better call out to the passersby to come and take a closer look. The whole aim of the meticulous planning, layout designs, selection of color schemes, leafing through the whole album to pick the most appropriate photographs and so on in all these should culminate into your prospects making a beeline for the brochure and once taken possession of, read and preserve it for taking another look, rather than throwing it away as junk.

Making an inanimate printed paper “speak” to the prospects is what magic the brochure is expected to effect on the prospects (intending buyer, customer or client) and you the brochure designer is that magician whose onus it is to make the magic happen. There are some basic parameters which need to be studied in detail and the design frozen before the task of composing can begin. Some of the basic parameters that need consideration prima facie are:

  1. 1. What is the purpose of the brochure? Is it for an organized ad campaign, a book release, for normal sales pitch, for admission program to an educational institution or for information about an event or product etc?
  2. 2. What is the average profile of the niche or target audience? Is the brochure meant to be distributed among students, housewives, general public, academics, professionals or potential buyers of luxury goods etc?
  3. 3. How is the brochure intended to be distributed? Is it going to be handed over by the front office, by a sales person after some interaction with the prospect, mailed, handed over as part of meeting/seminar/admission folder, during an exhibition or on demand by the prospects?
  4. 4. Is it meant to create some feedback or direct measurable response for the recipient population? Is there a means to assess the effectiveness of the brochure either immediately or in the near future?

These are questions each often providing multiple answers. Based on these inputs and subsequent interaction with the clients on whose behalf the brochure is being printed, you can now address the following details that need to go into the brochure printing piece. At times all the answers may not be available and that too in not so much details as the clients may not always be willing to pass on the information to you, especially if it is a hush- hush product release or high budget ad campaign. Answers that you need as the brochure designer include, but may not be restricted to:

  1. 1. What is the content in text form and how much space is it going to take?
  2. 2. What is the prioritization of the text and what order should they appear? What are their relative weightings so that font type, size and color can be decided?
  3. 3. How many photographs are there for inclusion and what is their relative precedence in terms of sizes and order of appearance?
  4. 4. In case there are photographs of persons how should they appear; simple, with border, framed or highlighted?
  5. 5. Are there any catchy captions the client feels as must include or do you have the freedom to design your own?

Once the above design parameters are known you can start working on a draft, first in black & white (leaving blank space for photos) for finishing the text, checking for errors if any, judge on the fonts and satisfy your self that the output is as planned or even better. Often, last minute additions or corrections to the text are insisted upon by the client and the placements may need readjustments. The total space with the fonts as accepted will dictate the folding pattern, if it is more than a single page.

Not withstanding the type of folding selected, the front page or the face carries maximum impact, which will direct by whispering in the ear of the recipient to open it and see in detail. In order to get this effect, the face should have the visual impact and carry enough pointers to lead the way inside. Color selection, contrasts, use of techniques in rendering the pictures, relative placement of matter on the face, all of them contribute to this whisper effect. The cover should be pleasing to the eyes, not very catchy and certainly not glaring, nudge the curiosity of the prospect and should emphasize what needs to be punched in before the prospect opens or turn the page. All these combination will depend on the answers to the two sets of questions above. Generally speaking avoid bright red, dark green or deep magenta on the face and if these are part of the clients colors, their logo etc, use them in a very subtle way, because research studies have shown that these colors tend to make people turn away while shades of yellow, orange, blue have the effect of riveting their attention.

At time it is difficult to convince the client, who often insists on knowing everything, especially when the designs come from advertisement professionals. Strange are the ways of the human mind!!

Let Door Hangers Increase Your Business

Monday, October 24th, 2011

Door hangers are known to make a strong first impression on not only potential customers, but for clients your business might already have. You will have to make sure that your door hanger catches the attention, but will also hold the attention. Door hangers that don’t stand out might just end up in the junk mail pile.

Color is key, if you are not using eye catching colors, or color schemes your business door hanger will not stand out. Typically you will want to utilize your companies colors, but try to choose brighter hues, and stay clear of neutral colors. Keep browns, black, white and grays for borders. Fonts can be contrasting colors, or within the same color family as the dominate color. This will allow your message to stand out while still being pleasing to the eye. Using different fonts can also help your hanger really stand out, however you will want to stay clear of any that are difficult to read and keep the sizing in line with the size of your hanger so that words fit properly.

The type of paper used is almost as important as the design itself. You will need a paper that can hold up to not only weather especially if your business is located in a weather intense area. Using coatings to waterproof or prevent fading from the suns UV rays can help your hanger last. Sometimes the feel of the paper alone, coated or not, will make your hanger stand out and above the rest. Customers respond best to the senses, and with hangers you are limited to sight and feeling only. However, this shouldn’t stop a business from utilizing this form of advertising in order to reach customers.

Your hanger can be as simple as stating your location and who you are, or you may design a hanger that is functional too. These types of hangers can be used over and over again by your customers, inside their homes. This will likely leave a favorable impression on them for your company. Do Not Disturb signs are the most common door hangers that will be used in customer homes. If, for example, your business is nursery furniture, you could send out to your customers “Baby is Sleeping” hangers.

If your business is a restaurant you could put some of your tops selling dishes, or coupons for your customers to use. This could entice new customers to try your products, and keep your customers returning. Coupons can be a large advantage for bringing in new customer base. People enjoy a good deal, and even if the savings is minimal, it can be the turning point for developing a new client. Coupons can typically be used in every industry, so it is not just limited to food services.

Door hangers are an excellent way to spread your business name, announce new coupons, sales, or even just a way to say thank you to your customers. It’s a form of advertising that isn’t invasive and is usually welcome by customers, new and returning, as it adds a bit of personal touch that many still crave. However, personal touch is hardly found within today’s business of advertising, and many times this will leave smaller businesses overlooked in favorite of the larger types.
